Tell Me How I’m Supposed To Breathe With No Air

There’s a gag around my mouth,

sucked dry then drenching wet

in this relentless glare of the sun.

There are black spots in front of my eyes

dizzy, with the spinning.

But I dance on under the hot spotlights

while no one cares to watch.

Sputter, spew, dispel

every breath of fresh air

before it even reaches your lungs.

Ask yourself to breathe

while pinching your nose

and with a gag on your mouth.

Then tell me how it feels.
